Magazine advert : Mock-up
At the moment we have been given the breif to design a two page magazine advert for anything of our choice. I have chosen to advertise the Brogue because I have a few pairs myself and knew I would be prepared if we needed to photograph them for the actual advert. First I designed some rough mock-ups just drawing them with a pencil. Then I digitalised them using Photoshop.
Composition
The aim of this task was to go out in Leeds, sketching random compositions using a view finder. These aren't meant to be in detail, they are just meant to capture basic shapes and frame them well to make our photography compositions better. We then used the basic compositions that we drew from buildings etc as inspiration for cut out compositions. We used black, white and grey paper and cut out different shapes and played around with compositions until we got a final design that we liked. The last image is my final composition and I really like it. The balance of the shapes works really well and I like the pop of red.

Urban CD Cover
This was a CD Cover I created on the theme of Urban. I took photographs in urban locations such as the high rise buildings in Leeds, areas which had graffiti, etc. I used photoshop to layer the images together and create this grungy effect. I really like the two tone effect of this CD Cover.

Self Portrait Progression
This is the first self portrait I ever did using pencil, paint and ink. This image is very cartoon like and unrealistic. I have drawn what I thought I saw rather than what I actually saw - and have drawn the features very stereotypically and not truely representational.
The second self portrait I did was created using pencil. I have again drawn the features quite stereotypically and not spent much time adding detail to the areas which needed it such as the face.
I think that my third self protrait is a big improvement on my first two. Although there isn't much detail in the image, I spent a lot of time on the eyes making them look as realistic as possible and not cartoony. Here is a close up of the eyes ^
This is my fourth self portrait and I think it is my best to date. Although I prefer the eyes from my third attempt I think this is generally better because it looks most like me and I spent a lot of time on it adding detail.
